Born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, Cana Atay has a passion for art and a love for fashion that led her to New York City. After earning her BFA in Studio Art and Art of Design from Franklin and Marshall College, where she also minored in Psychology, in 2013 she completed her Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Digital Photography at New York's School of Visual Arts.
Drawing many of her ideas from films, books, and magazines, Atay creates artwork that lives comfortably in a world midway between fantasy and reality. Her photographs are ethereal yet realistic enough to tell a story- one that raises as many questions as it answers. Her work has been exhibited at the Phillips Museum of Art in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and at the School of Visual Arts gallery in New York City. Atay is also experienced in theatre and opera production, having done set, costume, and lighting design for Lancaster's Roschel Performing Arts Center. She now works as a professional photographer in Istanbul.
